Université de Montréal: chimie inorganique

Effervescente, pluridisciplinaire et novatrice, la Faculté des arts et des sciences (FAS) est l’une des plus grandes facultés de l’Université de Montréal. Elle compte 300 programmes de tous cycles, dont certains sont uniques au Québec, répartis dans 28 départements, écoles, centres et un institut. Le Département de chimie de l’Université de Montréal est l’un des plus productifs et dynamiques en chimie au Canada. Il jouit d'une renommée internationale en raison de la qualité de ses infrastructures et des activités de recherche de ses 33 professeurs dont plusieurs sont titulaires de chaires prestigieuses. Les laboratoires du département sont situés dans un nouveau campus dédié aux sciences naturelles (campus MIL) avec des infrastructures à la fine pointe (caractérisation des matériaux, RMN, rayons-X, chimie en flux continu, spectrométrie de masse). Le département est extrêmement bien intégré dans une communauté de recherche dynamique en sciences des matériaux, tant au sein de l'Université de Montréal qu'aux niveaux québécois et canadien.

Vos défis au quotidien  
Par votre enseignement au premier cycle et aux cycles supérieurs auprès des étudiantes et étudiants et par vos activités de recherche, vous contribuerez à la promotion de l’excellence de la faculté. Vous assurerez également le rayonnement de votre discipline en plus de participer activement au fonctionnement d’une institution de renom. À ce titre, vous :

  • Enseignerez aux trois cycles et participerez au développement pédagogique du nouveau programme de 1er cycle avec une emphase sur la chimie inorganique;
  • Développerez un programme de recherche indépendant de haut niveau en chimie inorganique pour explorer de nouveaux horizons de recherche. Votre domaine de recherche devra être en lien avec une thématique émergente (e.g. panneaux solaires, transition énergétique, intelligence artificielle en chimie inorganique) avec un fort potentiel d’impact. La personne retenue ayant une thématique liée à l’intelligence artificielle pourrait voir son dossier proposé pour un poste de professeur.e IVADO (consortium de recherche, de formation et de mobilisation des connaissances en intelligence artificielle) qui offre des conditions de démarrage bonifiées. La personne retenue ayant des intérêts de recherche en lien avec la science des matériaux pourrait devenir membre de l’Institut Courtois;
  • Contribuerez au fonctionnement et au développement du département, de la Faculté et de l’institution par des comités et des activités scientifiques et sociales;
  • Participerez aux activités de rayonnement de la discipline (publications, conférences et autres).

Vos qualifications

  • Détenir un doctorat en chimie inorganique ou dans une discipline connexe;
  • Avoir une expérience de recherche postdoctorale ou l’équivalent;
  • Avoir un excellent dossier de publication dans le domaine;
  • Démontrer un potentiel à offrir un enseignement universitaire de grande qualité en chimie inorganique à tous les cycles;
  • Proposer un programme de recherche de calibre international en chimie inorganique avec un potentiel pour développer des collaborations internes, nationales et internationales;
  • Démontrer un potentiel pour encadrer des personnes étudiantes aux cycles supérieurs;
  • Avoir une connaissance suffisante de la langue française ou être déterminé à l’apprendre une fois en poste par l’entremise du programme de soutien à l’apprentissage de la langue française offert par l’UdeM, en vertu de la Politique linguistique de l’Université de Montréal.

St. Francis Xavier University: Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Biochemistry to begin July 1, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Applicants will be evaluated on their potential to contribute to the development of a biochemistry concentration offered for BSc Major and Honours chemistry degrees at StFX. Candidates should have a PhD in Biochemistry or a related discipline from a recognized university as well as have expertise to teach introductory and upper-year biochemistry courses and have evidence of excellence in teaching and of a well-defined program of research and potential for its development, within the context of a primarily undergraduate institution.

Some of the responsibilities of the successful candidate include:

  • Establish a vibrant, externally-funded research program in the field of biochemistry (broadly defined) which incorporates undergraduate (B.Sc.) trainees and may involve graduate (M.Sc.) trainees
  • Teach a variety of undergraduate-level biochemistry courses
  • Supervise B.Sc. honours students engaged in independent research
  • Contribute to curriculum development
  • Membership on committees and other general service to the university

Crandall University: Tenure-track teaching

Academic Rank: A full-time tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor.

Salary: Based on education and experience as per the Crandall University Faculty Handbook. (Approximate range $66,900 - $88,260). Includes a generous benefit and retirement package.

Qualifications: PhD (Chemistry) or MSc (Chemistry) with PhD in chemistry-associated field


Particulars of the Position: The science program is seeking a chemist passionate for teaching and

mentoring. Joining a small biology faculty team, the successful candidate will teach first-year chemistry and second-year organic chemistry lectures and labs primarily in support of an established biology major. As per the candidate’s expertise, additional courses may include chemistry courses for pre-med or environmental science students interested in completing a minor in chemistry, such as environmental chemistry, toxicology, analytical chemistry, etc. The ability to teach first-year physics is advantageous but not necessary. Strong lab and management skills will be necessary for tasks surrounding chemical ordering and inventorying, safety, equipment maintenance, lab revisions to keep experiments current, and more. The successful candidate will ensure that the chemistry component remains a science program strength.


Teaching Load: Six semester courses per year or equivalent.


Other Duties:  Research and publication is required for promotion. In addition, faculty

members are expected to be involved within their respective discipline’s professional organizations or agencies.

Faculty are expected to be involved in service to the university including serving as academic advisors to a group of students, and functioning on at least one university committee. A service role toward their local church and community is expected according to their gifts and interests.
