Queens University: Tenure-Track Position in Chemistry in Organic, Materials, Environmental or Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University invites applications for a Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Organic, Materials, Environmental or Physical Chemistry, subject to budgetary approval. The preferred starting date is July 1st, 2015.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. completed before the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are academic research and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate a strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to make substantive contributions through service to the department, to the Faculty, to the University, and/or the broader community. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Concordia: Strategic Hire in Nanomedicinal Chemistry


Concordia University in Montréal, Québec invites applications for a tenure-track position in Nanomedicinal Chemistry.

Nanomedicinal Chemistry is a highly interdisciplinary subject area, which includes for example nanoparticles that act as biological mimics, nanofibers and polymeric nanoconstructs as biomaterials, sensors and laboratory diagnostics.  Qualified candidates for the position in nanomedicine should have formal training from one of the following areas: chemistry, biological or pharmaceutical chemistry and/ormaterials science.  The current in-house expertise ranges from material synthesis, surface functionalization, spectroscopic properties and end applications.  The ideal candidate will complement and consolidate the recognition of Concordia’s expertise in this area.  The candidate should be a nanomedicinal chemist who would employ novel technologies and interdisciplinary approaches towards the discovery of modern medicines and/or the development of novel nanomaterials with applications in drug detection and monitoring that have the potential to foster improved health outcomes.

Applicants must have a Ph.D., and relevant post-doctoral experience.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active research program and teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in any area of chemistry.

The Department seeks candidates who are committed to creating an independent research program in any area of research related to Chemical Biology/Biological Chemistry. Of particular interest are programs involving the development and application of novel measurement techniques in Chemical Biology/Biological Chemistry. Applications from more senior candidates may be considered. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree with postdoctoral experience, proven research ability, and a strong commitment to teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to establish a vigorous research program.
