Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS): Chimie analytique environnementale - Professeure ou professeur (Centre Eau Terre Environnement)

SOMMAIRE

L’Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) est le seul établissement au Québec dédié exclusivement à la recherche et à la formation universitaire aux cycles supérieurs. En partenariat avec la communauté et l’industrie, l’INRS est fier de contribuer au développement de la société par ses découvertes et de contribuer à l’effort de formation d’une relève scientifique de haut niveau dans les domaines des sciences et génie, des sciences sociales et de la santé.

Le Centre Eau Terre Environnement de l’INRS (INRS-ETE) sollicite des candidatures pour combler un poste régulier au sein de son corps professoral dans le domaine de la chimie analytique environnementale. Ce poste fait partie du plan de développement du Centre et de sa plus récente programmation scientifique afin de développer davantage ses capacités de recherche. L’INRS-ETE jouit d’une infrastructure de recherche imposante incluant des équipements de laboratoire et de terrain à la fine pointe. Dans le cadre de ses activités, la personne recherchée doit établir un programme de financement extramural (subventions et commandites) autonome, compétitif et innovateur pour la recherche dédiée à la chimie analytique environnementale. Le Centre ETE offre un environnement favorisant la recherche interdisciplinaire. La personne recrutée aura l’opportunité d’interagir avec des collègues de différents horizons incluant la limnologie, la géochimie environnementale, l’écotoxicologie, ainsi que l’assainissement et la décontamination des eaux et des sols. Elle contribuera à améliorer les capacités analytiques du Centre et à favoriser l’émergence de projets d’équipes interdisciplinaires.

  • Développer, dans le cadre des programmes multidisciplinaires du Centre ETE, des activités de recherche novatrices en chimie analytique environnementale en lien avec une ou plusieurs des thématiques suivantes :
    • Développement de méthodes analytiques pour la détection de contaminants d’intérêt émergent dans diverses matrices biotiques et abiotiques ;
    • Suivi de la biodégradation, de la métabolisation et de la biotransformation des contaminants organiques dans les milieux naturels, dans l’eau potable ou dans les rejets industriels ;
    • Développement d’outils analytiques dans le cadre de projets en restauration des écosystèmes, en métabolomique environnementale ou en paléolimnologie ;
    • Développement d’outils et de méthodes d’analyse des isotopes stables pour le suivi des contaminants et de leur dégradation.
  • Assurer le financement de ses activités de recherche par le biais d’octrois externes provenant d’organismes publics et privés;
  • Participer à des activités de formation, notamment dans le cadre des programmes de 2e et 3e cycles du Centre, et à l’encadrement d’étudiants et du personnel de recherche;
  • Contribuer au rayonnement de l’INRS aux niveaux national et international.

EXIGENCES ET HABILITÉS PARTICULIÈRES

  • Être titulaire d’un doctorat dans un domaine pertinent;
  • Posséder une expérience postdoctorale pertinente ou une expérience dans l’industrie ou dans les services gouvernementaux;
  • Démontrer un fort potentiel de collaboration et de complémentarité avec les autres membres du corps professoral du Centre dans une perspective multidisciplinaire;
  • Avoir une production scientifique démontrant une autonomie scientifique;
  • Présenter un excellent potentiel pour réaliser une recherche originale, productive et formatrice aux cycles supérieurs dans le but d’atteindre une reconnaissance à l’international à titre de chef de file dans son domaine au cours des 5 à 10 prochaines années;
  • Avoir la capacité de superviser des étudiants de 2e et de 3e cycles, des stagiaires postdoctoraux ainsi que du personnel de recherche;
  • Avoir démontré son esprit d’entreprise et sa capacité d’autofinancer ses recherches. D’actuels subventions ou contrats seront considérés comme un atout.

La langue de travail est le français. La connaissance de l’anglais est nécessaire. Les candidates et les candidats pour qui le français n’est pas une langue usuelle sont fortement encouragés à soumettre leur candidature. Au besoin, la personne recrutée sera invitée à parfaire sa connaissance du français au cours de son premier contrat d’engagement (3 ans, renouvelable après évaluation), et les ressources nécessaires seront mises à sa disposition afin de faciliter son apprentissage.

Ryerson University: Two 1-year Limited Term Faculty Teaching General Chemistry. Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry/ Environmental Chemistry / Inorganic Chemistry

Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the  territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Chemistry and Biology in the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University, invites applications for two 1-year Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position in Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor effective August 1, 2021. The successful candidate(s) will engage in a combination of only the teaching and service duties of faculty members in the Department, maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Position #1 (General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry):
Introductory courses in General Chemistry, as well as introductory courses in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Position #2 (General Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry OR Inorganic Chemistry):
Introductory courses in General Chemistry as well as advanced courses in either (i) Environmental Chemistry OR (ii) Inorganic Chemistry.

Candidates must hold a completed PhD in the relevant area of Chemistry. In addition, the successful candidate must:  

  • present evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching that outlines scientific teaching philosophy, teaching accomplishments (from a variety of perspectives including community and academic), and pedagogical practices; 
  • present a commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a dedication to making learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and
  • demonstrate an ability to contribute to the life of the Department and the University through collegial service.

Commensurate experience in the area of chemical and/or biological education or pedagogy would be considered an asset.

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Environmental Analytical Chemistry. Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Physical Chemistry UT-02/UT-03/UT-04

The Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) Department at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) wishes to hire an indeterminate Faculty member with expertise in Physical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline at the time of hiring. The preferred start date is 1 January 2022.

All candidates are encouraged to detail their experience in physical chemistry research, academia, and/or industry in their cover letter and curriculum-vitae. Their commitment to research should be demonstrated by a strong record of peer-reviewed scientific contributions. Candidates must include  examples of up to three refereed publications devoted to physical chemistry or a closely related field. Post-doctoral research experience or relevant industrial equivalent in physical chemistry would be an asset.

The successful candidate is expected to show initiative and to develop an independent research program that can capitalize on the resources of the CCE Department. As part of their research portfolio submission, candidates should include a 5-to-10-year research program plan and an undergraduate/graduate student supervision plan. Additionally, a research program that includes collaboration with CCE Departmental Faculty, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Department of National Defence  (DND), industrial contacts, and/or other external contacts would be an asset.

The official language profile requirements for the position are imperative bilingual at the intermediate level (BBB/BBB). Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture: Environmental Chemistry

The Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences in Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture invites applications for a tenure stream Assistant Professor position with Teaching, Research, and Service responsibilities. The successful candidate will commence as early as July 1, 2021.

We are seeking outstanding candidates with a demonstrated track record of expertise, experience and knowledge in environmental chemistry, especially in an agricultural context. Exposure to agrochemicals including organic materials, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and others greatly contribute to environmental pollution, land degradation and contamination of underground water resources to affect the environment, biodiversity, and ecosystems. Agricultural chemicals also lead to residual issues and raise food safety concerns. To develop sustainable agricultural systems, it is critical to generate new knowledge in agricultural residue chemistry and life-cycle analysis. This will enable the development of policies and regulations to mitigate the impact of land-based agriculture on our environment, land and landscapes and contribute to ecological services, food safety, food security and building sustainable communities.

The successful candidate will work closely with our faculty members in plant science, environmental sciences, soil science, cropping systems, food biosciences, animal and aquaculture production systems, engineering, and environmental health. As such, the successful candidate will be evaluated on their potential to become an international leader in the field of agricultural residue chemistry and their ability to provide potential sustainable solutions for environmental stewardship. The faculty expects the successful candidate to develop a strong externally funded, internationally recognized research program that includes the training of post-graduate, graduate, and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will be a multidisciplinary researcher who has demonstrated potential to collaborate with faculty members from across departments in the Faculty of Agriculture. We seek a team-player and team-builder who can forge synergies within and among academia, government research institutions, industry, and other stakeholders within and beyond the Atlantic region. We seek a clear and stimulating communicator who can inspire students, support faculty initiatives, serve on faculty committees, and participate in growing the positive reputation of the faculty and university.

The successful applicant must:

  • hold a PhD in environmental chemistry or a closely related discipline such as agricultural chemistry, ecotoxicology or other closely related discipline with a demonstrated link between agriculture chemical residue and environmental health, ecological services and food safety;

  • publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals;

The Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) Department at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) wishes to hire an indeterminate English essential Faculty member with an expertise in nuclear science and/or nuclear engineering at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, or a related discipline at the time of hiring. The preferred start date is 1 January 2022.

All candidates are encouraged to detail their experience in nuclear research, academia, and/or the nuclear industry in their cover letter and curriculum-vitae. Their commitment to research should be demonstrated by a record of strong peer-reviewed scientific contributions and the candidates are urged to include/submit examples of up to three refereed publications that are devoted to nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a closely related field. Post-doctoral research experience or relevant industrial equivalent in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, and/or related field(s) would be an asset. A professional engineering license in Canada, or the eligibility to obtain a license, would be an asset.

The successful candidate is expected to show initiative and develop an independent research program that can capitalize on the resources of the CCE Department. Utilization of the SLOWPOKE-2 nuclear reactor and associated nuclear laboratory facilities would be an asset. As part of their research portfolio submission, candidates are encouraged to include a 5-to-10-year research program plan and an undergraduate/graduate student supervision plan. Additionally, a research program that includes collaboration with CCE Departmental Faculty, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Department of National Defence (DND), industrial contacts, and/or other external contacts would be an asset.

The successful candidate is expected to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the CCE Department. As part of their teaching portfolio submission, candidates are encouraged to provide a description of their teaching and training objectives and demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching pedagogy.
