Memorial University (Grenfell Campus): Teaching Term Appointment Position in Environmental Science–Chemistry

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, is located within Western Newfoundland in Corner Brook, an area of great natural beauty in close proximity to Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. POSITION: Environmental Science–Chemistry

A 9-month teaching term appointment in the Environmental Science program of the School of Science and the Environment, Grenfell Campus, commencing August 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2026. This position supports the teaching of courses throughout the Fall and Winter semesters of 2025–2026. Duties will include teaching the lecture component of the following suite of first year chemistry courses: CHEM 1810, CHEM 1200, and CHEM 1001, with teaching assignments subject to change. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. (or near completion) in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, or a related area. University of Victoria: Physical and/or Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in experimental chemistry, particularly in one of the areas of physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry or a combination of the two fields. The research area is broadly defined and includes but is not limited to inorganic synthesis, sustainable materials, catalysis, spectroscopy, nanosciences, and/or energy, including energy storage devices. The successful applicant will be offered a tenure-track appointment with an expected start date of July 1, 2026 or as negotiated. A PhD degree in chemistry is required and Post-doctoral experience is strongly preferred. In accordance with the University’s Equity Plan and pursuant to section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code, the selection will be limited to women and gender diverse peoples. The proposed research program should have the potential for national and international collaborations, including industrial partnerships, and should be complementary to the research activities at the University of Victoria. It is anticipated that the appointee will develop as an outstanding teacher and mentor of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, and have the potential to manage an inclusive research environment that integrates a diverse group of employees.

University of Guelph: Experimental Physical or Analytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Guelph invites applications from individuals with research expertise in any field of experimental Physical or Analytical Chemistry, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The anticipated start date of the position is 1 July 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field and a record of relevant, internationally-recognized research. They will have the pedagogic ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and a desire to inspire new generations of scientists. The candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program, with global impact, funded by Canadian and international agencies (i.e., NSERC, CFI, etc.), which may lead to industrial collaborations. Candidates with interests in fundamental or applied analytical or physical chemistry, including chemical toxicology, aqueous chemistry, minerals and mining chemistry, nuclear chemistry, and surface science, are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to devote significant portions of their time to both research and teaching within the Department. They will also be expected to participate in service.

Research Requirements: The application must include evidence of a consistent record of high quality, funded research, or strong evidence of the ability to attract funding for such. Evidence for this will include a record of submission and acceptance of conference presentations, high-quality peer-reviewed journal publications and/or patents. In addition, the candidate must submit a detailed research proposal which demonstrates their potential to establish an independent research career.

Teaching Requirements: The applicant will need to demonstrate their willingness and ability to lecture, examine, and develop course materials as needed for established and new courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Additionally, they will need to develop and deliver courses at the graduate level. If the candidate has previous teaching experience, a record of high-quality teaching based on formal teaching evaluations or awards will be viewed positively.
