Dr. Miguel Soto has joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2025.
Before joining USask, Miguel was a Research Associate at the University of British Columbia in the MacLachlan Group, where he worked on bio-nanomaterials, molecular self-assembly, and metal-based structures. He earned his PhD at Cinvestav in Mexico under the supervision of Professor Jorge Tiburcio-Baez, studying ring-containing polymers. He also holds a BSc in Industrial Chemistry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he worked on the organic synthesis of small molecules.
At USask, his team will explore the interface of coordination, organometallic, and supramolecular chemistry, with a focus on the design of functional metal-organic molecules and materials.
