Chemistry - Senior Instructor / Instructor II / Instructor I

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full time two year Term position at the rank of Senior Instructor/Instructor II/Instructor I, commencing September 1, 2017 and ending August 31, 2019 subject to final budgetary approval. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate must have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field, and documented evidence of excellence in teaching at a university level. The position includes teaching responsibilities in introductory undergraduate chemistry in classroom and laboratory settings and duties may also include upper division supervision of the lab programs in areas including, but not limited to, analytical and physical chemistry. Experience in the use of instrumentation commonly used in these subject areas is desired. The candidate must provide evidence of their proficiency to teach in all of these areas. Final assigned duties will be subject to the needs of the Department. Faculty members at the rank of Instructor at the University of Manitoba also are expected to contribute to service. There is no formal research expectation in this position.

The Department of Chemistry consists of 25 faculty members including 6 instructors and 12 support staff covering the traditional and applied areas of chemistry and biochemistry. The department is located on the Fort Garry Campus of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, a city with a rich cultural environment and abundant outdoor recreational venues (www.winnipeg.ca). Winnipeg is the largest city in the Province of Manitoba, and the region provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation in all seasons.
