The Department of Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for an entry-level, full-time, tenure-track appointment in Chemistry, with a specialization in Inorganic Chemistry, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department of Physical Sciences includes faculty members specializing in Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Physics. The department fosters a strong culture of interdisciplinary collaboration in both teaching and research. You will have expertise in inorganic chemistry, or a related field, and the experience to teach Introductory General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and senior-level courses within Inorganic Chemistry. You are expected to develop and teach senior courses in their area of expertise. MacEwan University is an undergraduate teaching university with a typical teaching workload of six courses per academic year.

You will be expected to develop and maintain an active research program and engage in service at MacEwan and/or to the wider scientific/educational community. You must have, or be close to completion of, a terminal degree in Inorganic Chemistry, or a closely related field and demonstrate excellence or a clear promise of excellence in teaching undergraduate-level courses. You must have a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentorship through both coursework and research.

You will submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae describing how your teaching experience and research activities would contribute to the department and support its commitment to undergraduate education. A research dossier of up to three pages should describe your research experience and future research plans, with particular attention to how undergraduate students will be involved. Together, these documents will form a complete application package.  Please submit all documents together as a single PDF.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees.

Only selected candidates will be required to submit official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where you completed your degrees.
