Lakehead University: Teaching Focused Tenure Track Position

The Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a Teaching-Focused Tenure-Track position in the Department of Chemistry. The position will commence August 1, 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Department offers accredited degrees in Chemistry and joint Chemistry-Biology, as well as a specialized degree in Medical Sciences, and has research chairs in Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, and Medical Imaging. The successful candidate will teach four full-course equivalents per year in: introductory chemistry, service chemistry courses in support of other departments' requirements, as well as in the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be required to participate in the administrative work of the Department and University, in activities such as outreach and recruitment, serving on administrative and student committees, curriculum development, and liaison with academic departments being supported by service courses.

The preferred candidates will have:
An earned Ph.D. in Chemistry (any sub discipline) from a recognized university post-doctoral or other relevant experience is an asset;
A demonstrated commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record (or a clear demonstration of potential teaching ability), and of educational leadership;
The potential to make service contributions to the Department.
