Royal Military College of Canada: Ammunition Engineering

Department of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering – UT-2023-254742-004

Assistant/Associate/Full professor in Ammunition Engineering

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) wishes to hire an indeterminate faculty member at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in areas relevant to Ammunition Engineering. The rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in Engineering or Science and experience in the areas of, or related to, ammunition, explosives, ballistics (internal/external/terminal), weapon systems, or missile design. The preferred start date is 1 January 2024.

Professional engineering license in Canada, or the eligibility to obtain license, is an asset but not essential. The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the English language at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must provide evidence of teaching ability at the university level and a commitment to excellence in pedagogy. Recent supervisory experience would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program related to Ammunition Engineering. A strong peer-reviewed publication record will demonstrate commitment to research. The successful candidate will be joining a small group of faculties active in the research areas of sensitivity mitigation of energetic materials, blast enhancement, reactive gas dynamics, shock wave reflections, and detonation of high explosives, that enjoys collaborations with other government facilities, industry and universities.

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to contribute through service to the CCE department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a university environment is therefore essential.
