Alexander Baker hired at Dalhousie University

 Dr. Alexander Baker’s pursued undergraduate studies (B.Sc.) as a combined Honors in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a certificate in Medicinal Chemistry at Dalhousie University, before proceeding to a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Collaborative Specialization in Biomedical Engineering. The focus of his research involved click chemistry hydrogels and 3D in vitro drug screening models for cancer with Dr. Molly Shoichet at the University of Toronto. Dr. Baker subsequently stayed at Dr. Shoichet’s lab during a first postdoctoral fellowship concentrating on the design of an intraocular hydrogel to treat retinal detachment. He later joined Dr. Keith Pardee’s synthetic biology research group (University of Toronto) as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Baker will be joining the Department of Chemistry at Dalhousie University as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science in July 2023.
