Probationary Tenure-Track Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor
Chemical Engineering Program
The Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science is seeking applicants for a probationary tenure-track appointment. This position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering program and will commence January 1st, 2017, or earlier if the applicant chosen is available. The successful candidate will teach and conduct research in the field of Chemical or Process Engineering, and while the chief evaluation criteria will be excellence in research and teaching irrespective of research area, special consideration will be given to applicants working in the field of process control and optimization. Other areas of interest include, but are not limited to, catalysis, renewable energy and sustainability, electrochemical engineering, and other areas with some connection to Canadian industry, particularly industry in the Maritimes. The position will be filled by a chemical engineer able to teach core courses in our Chemical Engineering program, who would also teach technical electives and graduate courses in his or her area of specialization. 
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program and to supervise graduate students in the department. Current research activities in the Chemical Engineering program are diverse, and include interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers in other programs, other departments, and other institutions. Candidates with areas of specialization that may be complementary to those of faculty members currently in the program are encouraged. 
Applicants must hold a doctorate in Chemical Engineering or in a closely related field, and have demonstrated excellence in the teaching of university-level courses in this discipline.  Applicants should also have a track record in research that includes peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and research grants.  Candidates must be registered professional engineers in Canada, or eligible and committed to registration in Nova Scotia.
