The Forensic Science Program at the University of Toronto Mississauga, administered in the Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a full-time appointment in Forensic Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence on July 1, 2017.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a forensic focus or application. The successful applicant must also have a proven record of professional forensic activities as demonstrated by casework, court testimony, laboratory experience, or similar practices. They should have some experience working in a forensic laboratory, or as an independent forensic consultant, or equivalent. Candidates should also clearly indicate in the CV or cover letter any knowledge of Quality Assurance protocols and accreditation processes for forensic labs.

Candidates must also have a record of excellence in teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical enquiry, curriculum development, and teaching innovation. Evidence of excellence and commitment will be demonstrated by strong letters of reference, teaching accomplishments documented in a teaching dossier, and teaching evaluations. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated interested in developing a long-term career in teaching and related scholarly activity in forensic chemistry, in collaboration with the Forensic Science Program's network of faculty, professionals, and students, including developing research projects with advanced students and overseeing our internship program.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach a range of courses and labs in forensic chemistry and forensic science, from introductory to advanced levels. These courses may include: Introduction to Forensic Science; Ethics and Professionalism in Forensic Science; Forensic Chemistry; Forensic Toxicology: Internship in Forensic Science; and others.

U of T Mississauga's Forensic Science program is designed to provide students with an understanding of scientific analyses, theories, laboratory skills, applications, and field techniques. Programs are offered in the fields of forensic anthropology, forensic biology, forensic chemistry, and forensic psychology.
