York University: Department Chair

The Department of Chemistry, in the Faculty of Science at York University, invites applications for a full-time appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor who will serve as Chair of the Department for an initial 5 year term with the possibility of renewal, to commence July 1, 2017.

The Department seeks candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarly research. Outstanding candidates in any area of chemistry will be considered, with emphasis on candidates who will complement or extend the department’s strengths in biochemistry, mass spectrometry and materials. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry, an outstanding research record and must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an excellent and innovative research program, secure and maintain external peer-reviewed research funding, recruit and supervise graduate students. Candidates must have a track record of strong administrative, leadership and management skills, and demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
