The Department of Chemistry, University of Toronto, invites applications for a tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Polymer and Materials Chemistry. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2019.

Applicants must have earned a PhD by date of the appointment or soon thereafter in the broadly defined area of Polymer and Materials Chemistry.

Successful candidates will be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, independent, externally-funded research program. We seek candidates with a strong academic background, a record of excellence in research and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Applicant expertise and research interests may include fundamental studies and applications directed toward biological and health related problems, sustainable chemistry, renewable energy, nanochemistry, and optoelectronics.

Record of excellence in research will be demonstrated by publications in top ranked and field relevant academic journals or a publication pipeline that is at high international levels, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong endorsements by referees, and the teaching dossier, including a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, and sample course syllabi, submitted as part of the application.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
