University of Waterloo: Computational Biochemistry/Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Computational Biochemistry/Chemistry with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarship, with emphasis on biosimulations and/or computational method development involving biological or medicinal systems. S/he will have demonstrated excellence in areas related to biochemistry, medicinal chemistry and computational chemistry, ranging from computational studies and fundamental properties of biologically important molecules and polymers to novel applications of modern computational tools and methods to areas of biochemistry and medicinal chemistry. A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or an equivalent discipline, as well as postdoctoral experience, is required.  Creative scientists with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a strong independent research group, including supervision and mentoring of graduate students, and be able to develop collaborations with researchers in the Department of Chemistry and other departments and research centres at Waterloo, and internationally. Our interdisciplinary and collaborative department includes 44 faculty, and active, innovative programs shared with other departments in the Faculties of Science, Mathematics, Applied Health Sciences and Engineering, as well as other universities around the world. The successful candidate will also have a record of outstanding teaching, or will be able to provide evidence of potential to develop and deliver advanced courses in modelling, computational and simulation methods, introductory courses in the chemistry and biochemistry programs.

The salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $100,000 to $120,000.
