Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM): Tier 2 CRC in Systems Biology

The Department of Chemistry at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is seeking applications for a tenure-track position as professor in systems biology starting in August 2019. Applicants with expertise in the study of interactions between components of biological systems and proposing a research topic related to systems biology will be considered and are particularly invited to apply. Candidate that meets the eligibility requirements of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) - Tier 2 program may be supported by the University to apply for a CRC.
The Department of Chemistry has currently over twenty Faculty members active in different research areas including, physical chemistry, synthesis and catalysis, environmental chemistry, material chemistry and molecular biochemistry. The Chemistry Department offers numerous graduate programs and is home of the NanoQAM and PharmaQAM Research Centers, a Strategic Research Chair, and two Canada Research Chairs. QUALIFICATIONS and RESPONSABILITIES:
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatic or a related discipline.
  • Post-doctoral training and a recognized expertise in systems biology or in integrative biochemistry
  • Strong record of research productivity
  • Capacity to establish and maintain an innovative and strong externally-funded research program
  • Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Supervise students from the M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs
  • Participate in Departmental and University services
  • Proficient in written and spoken French. Non-French speaking individuals must demonstrate their willingness and capacity to learn French and embark on a francization program supported by the University
