St. Francis Xavier University: Tenure track faculty position in chemistry (esp. spectroscopy)

The Department of Chemistry at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a probationary tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2019. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be teaching introductory and advanced courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to general faculty duties in the Department and the University. Research interests in spectroscopy would be preferred, but applicants from all areas of chemistry' will be considered. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop an externally funded program of research. Independent and collaborative research opportunities are available and encouraged within the Department and within the University. Excellence in teaching and evidence of a well defined program of research and potential for its development are expected. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX's priorities of equity and inclusion. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate how they will contribute to the diversity efforts of our university. Demonstrated ability in attracting underrepresented groups of students to the program is an asset.
