Université du Québec à Montréal: Tenure Track Position in Computational Chemistry

The position’s expected start date is June 1st, 2023. Hiring for this position is subject to final budgetary approval. UQAM is seeking qualified candidates to join its faculty and ensure quality development in all areas of activity. The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Computational Chemistry. Candidates proposing a research program in any field related to Computational Chemistry will be considered. Applicants with expertise in Molecular Dynamics, Modeling of Materials or (Macro)Molecules, Computational Study of Reaction Mechanisms, and/or Developing Tools for Predictive Modeling using Artificial Intelligence are particularly invited to apply.

The Department of Chemistry has currently over twenty Faculty members with expertise in different research areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry, including Physical Chemistry, Synthesis and Catalysis, Environmental Chemistry, Material Chemistry, and Molecular Biochemistry. The Department of Chemistry offers numerous graduate programs and is home to NanoQAM (http://nanoqam.ca/) and CERMO-FC (https://www.cermofc.uqam.ca/) Research Centers, two Strategic Research Chair, and three Canada Research Chairs. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Teach and supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Perform research in Computational Chemistry
  • Perform community services

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Informatics, Physics, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Post-doctoral experience with a recognized expertise in Computational Chemistry.
  • A strong record of research productivity.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain an innovative and strong externally funded research program.
  • Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise students from the M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs.

Proficiency in spoken and written French. Applications from non-French-speaking individuals may still be considered. Candidates that are not proficient in spoken and written French will be offered language training.

STARTING DATE: June 1st, 2023

SALARY: According to the UQAM-SPUQ collective agreement
