Brandon University: Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Brandon University invites applications for a probationary (tenure-track) position in the area of Inorganic Chemistry beginning July 1, 2023, or as mutually agreed, subject to budget approval.  The Department offers B.Sc. degree programs and B.Sc. (Honours) degree programs with Majors and Minors in Chemistry. Applicants are invited to consult the Brandon University course calendar for more information on the program offerings. The successful candidate will be required to teach all courses in person.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will engage in teaching, research, and service.  The successful applicant will be responsible for the lecture and laboratory of existing courses that form a core component of the Undergraduate Programs within the Department. The candidate will be responsible for developing new courses in their area of specialization. The successful candidate is expected to develop an active, externally funded research program and actively participate in the University’s graduate and undergraduate programs. Individuals with a demonstrated track record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to establish productive collaborations within the Department and external research institutions. State-of-the-art infrastructure includes a 400 MHz NMR, inert atmosphere glovebox, and a variety of analytical instrumentation for molecular and atomic characterizations.  The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate on faculty committees.

Qualifications:  Qualified applicants will hold a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry or a closely related field. The successful candidate should have a record of successful undergraduate teaching or a clear commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence. Having an active research program would be an asset.
