The Chemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2019. We are searching for an outstanding scientist with a Ph.D. degree in the area of Chemistry or Biochemistry, with specialization in any area of biochemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant postdoctoral experience. We hope to attract applicants that can contribute to existing research themes at Acadia, such as agriculture, food science, environment, and medicine, and those who can forge meaningful collaborations with members of the Chemistry, Biology, and/or Nutrition Departments. The successful applicant is expected to show excellence in the development and teaching of our core biochemistry courses and labs as well as adjacent sub-disciplines (e.g. organic or general chemistry). The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded independent research program involving supervision of honours and M.Sc. students.

The Chemistry Department is located in Elliott Hall which recently has undergone extensive renovations, with an available newly renovated 1000 ft2 biochemistry research laboratory equipped with modern fume hoods and relevant equipment. There is access to several research facilities such as the Acadia Centre for Microstructural Analysis (ACMA) that hosts Bruker 300 MHz NMR, SEM, TEM, and other equipment; and the Acadia Laboratory for Agri-food and Beverage (ALAB) and the Centre for Analytical Research on the Environment (CARE), equipped with a suite of modern analytical equipment.

St. Francis Xavier University: Tenure track faculty position in chemistry (esp. spectroscopy)

The Department of Chemistry at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a probationary tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2019. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be teaching introductory and advanced courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to general faculty duties in the Department and the University. Research interests in spectroscopy would be preferred, but applicants from all areas of chemistry' will be considered. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop an externally funded program of research. Independent and collaborative research opportunities are available and encouraged within the Department and within the University. Excellence in teaching and evidence of a well defined program of research and potential for its development are expected. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Mount Allison University: Bioanalytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Mount Allison University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Bioanalytical Chemistry.  The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants  must  possess  a  Ph.D.  and  have  a  strong  commitment  to  undergraduate teaching and research in the general area of bioanalytical chemistry. We particularly seek candidates with broad expertise, and those eager to contribute strong undergraduate teaching  in  core  Introductory  Analytical  Chemistry  and  Instrumental  Methods  of Analysis,  as  well  as  advanced  courses  in  bioanalytical  chemistry.  Candidates  must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student- centred environment. The successful candidate is expected to launch an active and externally funded research programme that integrates participation by undergraduate research students.   Faculty have access to a range of internal and external funding opportunities. St. Mary's University: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, Physical-Analytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Physical-Analytical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2017. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in the field of Physical / Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field and will normally have postdoctoral or industrial experience. Applicants with an expertise in the areas of physical-analytical, experimental physical, materials / surface science, and/or analytical chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. Outstanding candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research are sought for this position. Candidates should be capable of classroom and laboratory teaching excellence in the areas of physical and analytical chemistry primarily at the undergraduate level, and have a passion for providing undergraduate research opportunities. Duties will also include graduate-level supervision. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an innovative, externally-funded research program in his/her field, an excellent teaching record at the undergraduate level, and play an active role in the administrative life of the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science, and the University in general. The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University offers a nationally-accredited Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemistry (Major and Honours). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research and graduate students are enrolled in the M.Sc. in Applied Science or Ph.D. in Applied Science degree programs. As well, the Department is home to the Atlantic Centre for Green Chemistry and has a number of faculty members active in Green Chemistry research. Faculty members in the Department have access to advanced instrumentation, including a new 300 MHz NMR, LC-PDA/ESI-MS, GC-FID/MS, TGA-MS, SEM/EDX, potentiostats (CV, ASV, etc.), DSC, FT-IR, single crystal X-ray diffractometer, and various spectrophotometers, all with excellent technical support. All laboratories and research spaces in the Department have been rebuilt as part of a major renovation of the Science Building.
