St. Mary's University: Assistant Professor (8-month term)

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for an eight month contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and have a record of research contribution. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classroom and laboratory instruction. The successful candidate is anticipated to instruct in a combination of the following lectures and/or laboratories: Physical Chemistry I and II, General Chemistry I and II, and may include other lectures and labs depending on the successful candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. The successful candidate has the opportunity to play an active role in the administrative life of the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science, and the University in general.
The Department of Chemistry offers a nationally-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree program in Chemistry (Major and Honours). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research and graduate students are enrolled in the in Applied Science Program at both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.

St. Mary's University: (2) 8-month Assistant Professor term appointments

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for two eight month contractually limited term appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry and will normally have postdoctoral or other work experience. Applicants with a background in the areas of Inorganic, Organic, and/or Materials Chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. The incumbent persons will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and have a record of research contribution. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classroom and laboratory instruction. The successful candidates are anticipated to instruct in a combination of the following lectures and/or laboratories (depending on background experience): General Chemistry I and II, Inorganic Chemistry I and II, Organometallics, Biochemistry, Polymers, and Organic Chemistry. The successful candidates have the opportunity to play an active role in the administrative life of the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science, and the University in general.

St. Mary's University: Teaching term position in Introductory Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a full-time, 4-month limited term position in Introductory Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence January 1st, 2017 and end on April 30th, 2017. The successful candidate will possess a M.Sc., preferably a Ph.D., in Chemistry. Postdoctoral or industrial experience would be considered an asset. The incumbent will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classroom and lab instruction in the areas of Inorganic Chemistry and General Chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry offers a nationally-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree program in Chemistry (Major and Honours). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research and graduate students are enrolled in the M.Sc. in Applied Science or Ph.D. in Applied Science degree programs. As well, the Department is home to the Atlantic Centre for Green Chemistry and has a number of faculty members active in Green Chemistry research. Clarissa Sit Hired by St. Mary's

Congratulations to Dr. Clarissa Sit, who has been hired as an assistant professor at St. Mary's University in Halifax, NS. Dr. Sit completed her B.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, where she worked for John Vederas. She then was a NSERC Banting postdoctoral fellow with Jon Clardy at Harvard Medical School. Her research interests include chemical ecology and natural product discovery.

St. Mary's University: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, Physical-Analytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Physical-Analytical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2017. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in the field of Physical / Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field and will normally have postdoctoral or industrial experience. Applicants with an expertise in the areas of physical-analytical, experimental physical, materials / surface science, and/or analytical chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. Outstanding candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research are sought for this position. Candidates should be capable of classroom and laboratory teaching excellence in the areas of physical and analytical chemistry primarily at the undergraduate level, and have a passion for providing undergraduate research opportunities.
