Ryerson University: 1-year limited term

The Opportunity:
The Department of Chemistry and Biology in the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University (www.ryerson.ca) is pleased to invite applications for a one-year Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Chemistry/Biochemistry. The appointment shall be effective August 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.
The position will have teaching and course management obligations for a range of courses including first year chemistry, introductory organic chemistry, and, introductory and advanced biochemistry.
The Department of Chemistry and Biology consists of 36 tenure-stream faculty members. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) programs. Our faculty prides itself on the excellence of its research and on the quality of its teaching. We are interested in candidates that will contribute to our existing teaching strengths by bringing innovative and diverse perspectives and experiences to their work.
Limited Term Faculty appointments at Ryerson University may not exceed a combined total of four years.  Applicants with prior Ryerson LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply. 
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate programs through teaching and service duties only. The candidate will engage in maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities.

Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in an area of Chemistry or Biochemistry and have post-secondary teaching experience.

Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching must be provided through a statement of teaching philosophy and, if available, descriptions of teaching accomplishments, including 
experience with course/curriculum review/development, excellent pedagogical practice, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations. Please demonstrate evidence of strong communication skills.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population. St. Mary's University: Assistant Professor (8-month term)

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for an eight month contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and have a record of research contribution. Trent University: 1-year limited-term appointment in the field of Forensic Chemistry

Trent University invites applications for a 1-year limited-term appointment in the field of Forensic Chemistry to be cross-appointed in the Department of Chemistry and the Forensic Science Program at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 15, 2019.  This position is subject to budgetary approval.  A completed Ph.D. with relevant teaching experience or equivalent, are required.  Priority will be given to applicants who have completed a Ph.D. degree in Forensic Chemistry or in Chemistry with an expertise in instrumental analytical and forensic chemistry or a closely related field.  The successful candidate will teach a total of six term-length courses in the 2019-2020 academic year (Fall, Winter, Summer).  These courses may include, but are not restricted to, Analytical Chemistry, Spectrophotometry and Spectroscopy, Forensic Chemistry, Advanced Topics in Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Toxicology, Advanced Forensic Toxicology and Molecules of Murder.  Demonstrated teaching experience at the interface of forensic science and chemistry is an important asset as are a strong working knowledge of analytical chemistry theory and forensic practices.

Trent University: 12-month limited-term appointment in organic chemistry

Trent University invites applications for a twelve month limited-term appointment in the field of organic chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, subject to budgetary approval.  The position will start August 15, 2019.  A PhD degree in chemistry is required and demonstrated organic chemistry teaching experience is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate will teach six one-semester courses at the undergraduate level in chemistry.  These courses may include, but are not limited to, Introductory Organic at the second year level, Introductory Chemistry I at the first year level, Advanced Synthetic Organic at the third year level, Applications of NMR spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry at the fourth year level.  Most teaching will take place in the Fall and Winter semesters, however, Summer semester teaching may be required.

Trent University: 1-Year Limited Term in Instrumental Analytical Chemistry

Trent University invites applications for a 1-year limited term appointment in the field of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry with teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level within the Department of Chemistry and the School of the Environment at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval. A completed Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or a related field and appropriate teaching experience are required. The successful candidate will teach a total of six courses of the 2018-2019 academic year (Fall, Winter, Summer). These courses could include, but are not restricted to: Mass Spectrometry, Quality Assurance and Good Laboratory Practice, Quality Control and Data Manipulation, Troubleshooting Analytical Methods, Sample Preparation, Advanced Topics: ICP-MS and LC-MS-MS and Environmental Toxicology. This successful candidate will be pivotal in the operation of our new practicum-focused Instrumental Chemical Analysis graduate program and will work closely with the staff and facilities of the Trent Water Quality Centre. Previous practical hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry would be an asset.

McMaster University: Chemical Education

The Department Chemistry & Chemical Biology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, invites applications for a two-year contractually limited faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Chemical Education.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in chemistry or chemical biology at the time of appointment and should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Duties include teaching a range of courses, including general (first year) chemistry, Level II organic chemistry and laboratory courses in Chemical Biology, as well as administrative service. Participation in curriculum development and/or undergraduate laboratory supervision may also be required, but there is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent research program or engage in collaborative research.

Dalhousie University: Limited Term Instructor

The Department of Chemistry at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 3-Year Limited Term Instructor, 100% FTE.

Appointment term: Begins on or before August 15, 2016 - July 31, 2019

Duties: The responsibilities of this position are the preparation and delivery of first-year chemistry classes, primarily lectures, but also some laboratory duties. In addition, the position may occasionally be assigned tasks in other courses.

This position reports to the Chair of the Chemistry Department.

The position requires a minimum of PhD degree in Chemistry and laboratory and lecture teaching experience at the university level. The DFA Collective Agreement, 2015-18, defines total compensation for the position, including salary and benefits.

McMaster University: 1-year teaching contract position

The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology in the Faculty of Science at McMaster University invites applications for a one-year contractually limited appointment at the Assistant Professor level, to commence on or before September 1, 2016. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the time of appointment and should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. The duties will involve teaching a range of courses, including general (freshman) chemistry and higher level courses in Chemistry and/or Chemical Biology, as well as administrative service. Participation in curriculum development and/or undergraduate laboratory supervision may also be required, but there is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent research program or engage in collaborative research. A competitive salary and benefits package as well as a professional development allowance will be provided.

University of New Brunswick - Saint John: 8-month limited term position

Ryerson University: 12 month limited term faculty position

The Department of Chemistry and Biology at Ryerson University invites applications for a 12 month Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position in Chemistry. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will commence August 1, 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter. Salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Individuals with a cumulative total of more than three years of previous service at Ryerson University as an LTF are not eligible for consideration in this competition. The position is subject to final budgetary approval. 

The successful candidate for the Chemistry LTF is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry and post-secondary teaching experience. The position will only have teaching and service obligations, with teaching consisting of a range of instruction of first year general chemistry courses.

Trent University: 9-month full-time, limited-term appointment biochemistry and organic chemistry

Trent University invites applications for a 9-month full-time, limited-term appointment in the Department of Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will start August 1, 2016, subject to budgetary approval. A Ph.D. degree and demonstrated teaching and research experience in biochemistry and organic chemistry is required.
