St. Mary's University: Assistant Professor (8-month term)

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for an eight month contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and have a record of research contribution. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classroom and laboratory instruction. The successful candidate is anticipated to instruct in a combination of the following lectures and/or laboratories: Physical Chemistry I and II, General Chemistry I and II, and may include other lectures and labs depending on the successful candidate’s expertise and departmental needs. The successful candidate has the opportunity to play an active role in the administrative life of the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science, and the University in general.

The Department of Chemistry offers a nationally-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree program in Chemistry (Major and Honours). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research and graduate students are enrolled in the in Applied Science Program at both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.
