University of Manitoba: Organic Chemistry Instructor I

 The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time probationary position at the rank of Instructor I, commencing April 1, 2024, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience and Ph.D (preferred) in Organic Chemistry or a related field. Duties may include undergraduate teaching, including live lecture, lab-based instruction, pedagogical, course and lab development and assessment, and service-related activities. The successful candidate must have a track record of outstanding teaching contributions and preferably course development and must exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment and with diverse students.

The Department currently has 19 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 9 Instructors and offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Department has a well-established and equipped teaching and research facilities such as microwave reactors, X-ray diffractometers, NMR spectrometers, thermogravimetric analysis, electrochemical equipment, IR spectroscopy, gas-chromatography mass spectrometers and high performance liquid chromatography instruments among others, and is supported by strong links with other University of Manitoba departments including Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Biological Sciences and Civil Engineering.
