The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range: $73,548- $81,092 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $95,658 is available through annual performance increases.

*This position is eligible for a Hybrid Work Arrangement*

Job Summary

The Senior Lab Instructor (SLI) supports the preparation and development of experimental content, preparing the Teaching Assistant Instructors (TAs) to teach and grade the work of the undergraduate students, teaching those undergraduates, maintenance of the teaching and working environment of the associated space and facilities, and the maintenance of the chemical inventory. This position is the primary instructor for the lab component in 100-level topic courses, and for the on-line course 091. 

The SLI is responsible for safety training, supervision and training of Laboratory Assistants (LAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs), maintenance of designated teaching space and equipment/ instrumentation, records management of student information, and communication with students, SLIs, LAs, TAs, professors, the ULS, the Administrative Officer (AO) and the Chair of the Department.

Job Requirements

This position requires an MSc in Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a scientific environment. Teaching experience is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

In addition, this position requires:

Assets or Preferences:
•    A PhD in Chemistry
•    Experience working in a university environment.
•    Experience with laboratory-based education development.
