Opportunity
The Department of Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track chemistry laboratory supervisor position, commencing July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval.
This position will contribute to the continued success of the Applied Chemistry Major within MacEwan’s Bachelor of Science degree. You should minimally have an MSc in Chemistry, with substantial experience in developing and teaching introductory chemistry labs. Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and a proven commitment to student-centered, evidence-based pedagogy is an asset.
You will work with the department's instructional faculty and technical staff to ensure the effective delivery of the laboratory components of the Department's courses. Primary responsibilities will include the academic and administrative supervision of CHEM 101 (Introductory University Chemistry I), CHEM 102 (Introductory University Chemistry II) and laboratory teaching. In addition, you will work collaboratively with faculty to support other lab courses at the senior level depending on your area of expertise. Duties will include, but are not limited to, curriculum development of labs, preparation of lab manuals and lab assessments, and coordination of laboratory instructors in multi-section courses. This position involves lab instruction, and having effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills will be essential.
You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), that clearly illustrates experience in lab teaching and development in general chemistry and any other areas of specialization.
