The Département de Chimie at the Université du Québec à Montréal invites applications for a full-time Tenure-track Professor position, at all levels, in electrochemistry. The candidate must propose a research program mainly in the field of electrochemistry and will benefit from access to NanoQAM, an institutional research centre, which hosts a suite of equipment for materials synthesis and characterization (www.nanoqam.uqam.ca).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Teaching and supervision at the undergraduate, master and Ph.D. levels
Research in the field of electrochemistry
Service to the department, Faculty, University and community
REQUIREMENTS:

Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field
Post-doctoral or industrial experience
Ability to teach electrochemistry
Ability to develop a dynamic and international research program that could be funded by major funding agencies
Excellent publication track record
Ability to establish internal and external collaborations
Ability to teach and communicate in French. Courses are taught in French. UQAM provides support to new faculty to attain proficiency in French.
STARTING DATE: On or after August 1st 2019

Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM): Tier 2 CRC in Systems Biology

The Department of Chemistry at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is seeking applications for a tenure-track position as professor in systems biology starting in August 2019. Applicants with expertise in the study of interactions between components of biological systems and proposing a research topic related to systems biology will be considered and are particularly invited to apply. Candidate that meets the eligibility requirements of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) - Tier 2 program may be supported by the University to apply for a CRC.

The Department of Chemistry has currently over twenty Faculty members active in different research areas including, physical chemistry, synthesis and catalysis, environmental chemistry, material chemistry and molecular biochemistry. The Chemistry Department offers numerous graduate programs and is home of the NanoQAM and PharmaQAM Research Centers, a Strategic Research Chair, and two Canada Research Chairs. QUALIFICATIONS and RESPONSABILITIES:

• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatic or a related discipline.
• Post-doctoral training and a recognized expertise in systems biology or in integrative biochemistry
• Strong record of research productivity
• Capacity to establish and maintain an innovative and strong externally-funded research program
• Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Supervise students from the M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs
• Participate in Departmental and University services
• Proficient in written and spoken French. Non-French speaking individuals must demonstrate their willingness and capacity to learn French and embark on a francization program supported by the University

Ali Nazemi hired by Université du Québec à Montréal

Congratulations to Ali Nazemi who has been hired by the Université du Québec à Montréal. Dr. Nazemi completed his M.Sc. at the university of Toronto with Prof. Datong Song, then continued with Prof. Elizabeth Gillies at Western University. He then held a Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Ian Manners at the University of Bristol, then returned to Canada work as a PDF with Prof. Cathy Crudden at Queen's University.

UQAM: Polymer Chemistry

The selected candidate will have access to the NanoQAM institutional research center infrastructure (www.nanoquam.uqam.ca).

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program in the field of polymer chemistry, to teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students at the master and doctoral level, and to participate in the University activities.
