University of New Brunswick: Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Theoretical or Computational Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of New Brunswick invites expressions of interest in a possible Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Theoretical or Computational Chemistry.  Submissions from exceptional emerging researchers in any area of modern theoretical or computational chemistry are welcome.
This call is part of a UNB internal process to determine in which disciplines two NSERC CRC Tier 2 nominations will be made in 2017-2018.  If the Chemistry chair proposal is approved, an open call for full applications will be issued in summer 2017.  The successful candidate will be an individual with a demonstrated record of independent and creative research in theoretical or computational chemistry.  They should, at a minimum, be an assistant or associate professor, or possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed to these levels.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include engaging in innovative externally funded research that represents excellence in Theoretical or Computational Chemistry research. The establishment of productive research collaborations within and outside UNB would also be anticipated. The successful candidate will contribute to complementary areas of research within the university, and attract, develop and retain excellent students and future researchers.
The CRC Program was established by the Government of Canada to enable Canadian universities to foster research excellence and enhance their role as world-class centers of research in the global and knowledge-based economy.  Tier 2 Chairs, tenable for five years and renewable once, are for exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to be leaders in their fields.  More information on the CRC Program can be found at www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca
Expressions of interest should be made no later than April 3 by submission of a curriculum vitae and a short (maximum two page) summary of research expertise and interests to:  Dr. Ghislain Deslongchamps, Chair, Department of Chemistry, University of New Brunswick, 30 Dineen Drive, Fredericton, NB, CANADA E3B 5A3.  (506) 453-4781, Email:  chemchair@unb.ca.
The University of New Brunswick is an Employment Equity/Affirmative Action employer. The University encourages applications from qualified Aboriginal people, persons with a disability, racially visible persons and women.
