Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Bongers, who has been hired as an assistant professor at Queen's University. Chemistry has a central role to play in solving global challenges, and Amanda’s research explores
learning and teaching in chemistry for the next generation of scientists. Her
Queen's CER group
combines tools from educational research, cognitive science, and
neuroscience to study learning in chemistry, with a focus on organic and
green chemistry.
Amanda completed her Honours BSc in Biochemistry (2011) at the
University of Waterloo, her Ph.
D. in Organic Chemistry (2016) at the University of Ottawa with Prof.
André Beauchemin, and a postdoc (2016-2019) in the fields of Chemistry
Education and Neuroscience, under the supervision of Prof. Alison Flynn
(University of Ottawa) and Dr. Georg Northoff
(Royal Ottawa Mental Health Institute). She started her position as
Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Queen's in July 2019.
