University of Manitoba: Instructor I

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a two-year, full-time position at the rank of Instructor I, commencing January 5, 2021, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Winter term classes at the University of Manitoba begin on Monday January 18, 2021.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development.Outstanding candidates in any area of Chemistry will be considered, with particular emphasis on candidates who will complement or extend the department’s strengths. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience and a Ph.D (preferred) or M.Sc. or other distinguishing attributes in Organic, Inorganic or Analytical Chemistry or a related field. Duties include undergraduate teaching, including live lecture, on-line and distance delivery formats, pedagogical/course development and assessment, and service-related activities. The successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding teaching contributions and course development, and will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department currently has 19 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 7 Instructors, and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Department has a well-established and equipped research facility including infrastructure available to teaching such as X-ray diffractometers, NMR Spectrometers, Gas-Chromatography Mass Spectrometers and High Performance Liquid Chromatography instruments among others, and is supported by strong links with other University of Manitoba departments including Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Biological Sciences and Civil Engineering.
