University of Winnipeg: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in any area of biochemistry.  Subject to budgetary approval, this position will commence July 1, 2024. Salary levels will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and in accordance with the University of Winnipeg Faculty Association Collective Agreement.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry and have relevant postdoctoral research experience.  Candidates must have a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active, externally funded, research program involving undergraduate and graduate students that is complementary to the department. They will teach undergraduate courses, particularly core courses in biochemistry. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in Departmental and University service.

  • a cover letter
  • a curriculum vitae
  • Tri-Agency Grant style research proposal (maximum five pages)
  • a teaching statement and evidence of teaching effectiveness, including teaching evaluations, if available (one to two pages)
  • a personal statement on contributions and reflections on equity, diversity and inclusion in terms of teaching, research, service (maximum one page)
  • copies of at most three relevant publications
  • the names and contact information for three referees willing to write letters of support for the candidate

The Department of Chemistry offers 3- and 4-year undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and is home to nine research faculty, four instructors, and four support staff. Core in-house research infrastructure includes: NMR spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, and high-performance computing.
