The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a tenure-track position in any area of experimental chemistry. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. The expected start date of the appointment is July 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval. Minimum qualifications include undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Chemistry, as well as appropriate postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will be expected to mount an externally funded research program that includes undergraduate and graduate students and will also teach required introductory and senior courses in the Chemistry program. Evidence of teaching experience is an asset, as is an ability to teach X-ray crystallography. The successful candidate will bring complementary experience and expertise that will support the diversification of our curriculum and research interests.
We are seeking a candidate with the capability to engage and inspire students in their academic work, and who will show initiative in contributing to the department’s programs and curriculum development.

Our Team
The successful candidate will join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry team which consists of 12 research-active professors and 9 instructors. In addition to a strong undergraduate program with majors in both Chemistry and Biochemistry, the department has a thriving graduate program with a total of approximately 60 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The Department is proud of the state-of-the-art Science Commons Building, which contains shared and dedicated lab space for the new position. This 38,500 m2 building houses cutting edge research facilities (including 700 MHz, 500 MHz and 300 MHz NMR spectrometers, an EPR spectrometer with X-band and 4K data collection capabilities and a Rigaku-Oxford SuperNova Duo/Pilatus 200K X-ray diffractometer) and laboratory spaces that foster collaborations within and between disciplines.
