Opportunity
The Department of Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1st, 2022, subject to final budgetary approval. The Department of Physical Sciences includes faculty in Chemistry, Earth & Planetary Sciences, and Physics and values interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and in research. You should have expertise related to inorganic chemistry (broadly defined) or chemical education, which can complement the departmental foci of environmental studies, industrial chemistry, or planetary sciences; demonstrate excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in teaching undergraduate-level courses; and have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or demonstrable evidence of impending completion of a terminal degree.

You will be expected to deliver the equivalent of six courses per year, including introductory chemistry, as your regular teaching load and actively participate in curriculum development. You will have a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentorship. You will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students and engage in service at MacEwan and/or to the wider scientific/educational community.

    • Teaching philosophy and how that philosophy is reflected in practice
    • Teaching interests based on current courses at MacEwan or courses to develop
  • Recent teaching evaluations
  • Research statement (max. 5 pages), including:
    • Current research summary
    • Future research project ideas involving undergraduate students in your research
