University of the Fraser Valley: physical/theoretical chemistry

 Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in physical/theoretical chemistry at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will teach lectures and laboratories for physical/theoretical chemistry courses at the second-, third-, and fourth-year levels, as well as lectures in introductory general chemistry.

We seek applicants who share our passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a diverse, student-centered environment. Applicants should be committed to departmental and university service. Interest in community outreach activities is also desirable. Applicants must also be willing to contribute to academic leadership and an ongoing process of professional development.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an independent research program (research in chemical education is acceptable) which involves mentorship of undergraduate research students. The Department of Chemistry has a strong history in theoretical chemistry research including a Center for Molecular Modeling that offers work space and access to computing resources for faculty and student researchers. We encourage research proposals that would complement this existing research strength and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have two or more years of experience lecturing in undergraduate physical/theoretical chemistry including upper-level courses.
  • Candidates should also have a strong track record in research in physical/theoretical chemistry.
