Trent University: organic chemistry or bioorganic chemistry

Trent University, Peterborough campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Chemistry Department at the rank of assistant professor in the field of organic chemistry or bioorganic chemistry, starting July 1, 2023, subject to budgetary approval. A Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a directly related discipline is required. Successful applicants will have a strong publication record and a research background in organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, biological chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, or biomaterials.  Demonstrated teaching experience in organic chemistry or biochemistry is an asset.  

We expect the successful candidate to develop a research program supported by external research funding; recruit and supervise graduate students in either Trent’s Materials Science or Environmental & Life Sciences graduate programs; and contribute teaching and service at the departmental and university level as required by the departmental practices and the TUFA collective agreement. 

The successful candidate will teach four one-semester courses primarily at the undergraduate level, including, but not limited to courses in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and introductory chemistry.

  • A concise research proposal of no more than five pages
  • A statement of teaching experience and philosophy
