University of Ottawa: Part-time academic staff

The Part-Time Professor - (LTA) Long-Term Appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, will be assigned to teach undergraduate level courses in English and in French. This is a five-year contract for the equivalent of 7 courses (21 credits) of teaching per year, including 3 credits worth of academic support or administrative/service duties.

Minimum Requirements

The successful applicant will teach distance, diploma, and degree courses for students in Environmental Sciences, Plant Sciences, Integrated Environmental Management, Landscape Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Animal Science and Aquaculture programmes within Dalhousie University and at international universities where articulation agreements are in effect. York University: Assistant Lecturer in the Physical Sciences

The Division of Natural Science invites applications for a tenure-track, alternate stream (teaching- focused) Assistant Lecturer appointment to commence July 1, 2018.

The Division of Natural Science is a unit within the Department of Science & Technology Studies in the Faculty of Science that specializes in developing and delivering high quality undergraduate general education science courses to non-science university students. We are seeking candidates with a PhD in a Physical Science to teach Natural Science courses, with a strong preference for those also able to teach courses in the Department of Chemistry. The applicant must be interested in a teaching-focused position, and should have experience teaching science to university-level non-science students. The candidate should demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching; a dedication to using sound pedagogical techniques (including evidence-based strategies); and a strong interest in pedagogical development. Experience with different delivery formats (e.g., lecture, blended, online), teaching classes of varying sizes, and effective utilization of undergraduate laboratories are assets. The Department of Physical Sciences at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for a four month sessional faculty position in physical/computational chemistry to commence January 8, 2018.  TRU offers B.Sc. degrees with Canadian Society for Chemistry accredited Majors in chemistry and Environmental Chemistry.  TRU also offers an interdisciplinary Major in Chemical Biology.  Applicants should have a commitment to quality undergraduate education.  The successful candidate will teach first-year general chemistry and two third-year lecture and laboratory courses in physical chemistry.  The physical chemistry lecture course deals with introductory aspects of computational and quantum chemistry and statistical thermodynamics.  The computational laboratory course makes use of the software Spartan.

University of Victoria: Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in the area of Organic Chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in the area of Organic Chemistry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching organic and bioorganic chemistry courses at the second and third year level and may be required to teach chemistry at other levels. The appointee will become an outstanding teacher and mentor of undergraduate students, and will contribute to the development and delivery of core programs in Chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry is a research-intensive unit at the University of Victoria and is dedicated to providing outstanding programs for undergraduate students in Chemistry. Graduates of the department are well prepared for graduate school, professional programs and positions in the private sector. Recent enhancement of research activities within the department, as well as increases in the number of graduate students and undergraduate students, characterise the department as one of the strongest in Canada. Lakehead University: Teaching Focused Tenure Track Position

The Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a Teaching-Focused Tenure-Track position in the Department of Chemistry. The position will commence August 1, 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Department offers accredited degrees in Chemistry and joint Chemistry-Biology, as well as a specialized degree in Medical Sciences, and has research chairs in Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, and Medical Imaging. The successful candidate will teach four full-course equivalents per year in: introductory chemistry, service chemistry courses in support of other departments' requirements, as well as in the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be required to participate in the administrative work of the Department and University, in activities such as outreach and recruitment, serving on administrative and student committees, curriculum development, and liaison with academic departments being supported by service courses.

The preferred candidates will have:
An earned Ph.D. in Chemistry (any sub discipline) from a recognized university post-doctoral or other relevant experience is an asset;
A demonstrated commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record (or a clear demonstration of potential teaching ability), and of educational leadership;
The potential to make service contributions to the Department.

The Forensic Science Program at the University of Toronto Mississauga, administered in the Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a full-time appointment in Forensic Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence on July 1, 2017.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a forensic focus or application. The successful applicant must also have a proven record of professional forensic activities as demonstrated by casework, court testimony, laboratory experience, or similar practices. They should have some experience working in a forensic laboratory, or as an independent forensic consultant, or equivalent. Candidates should also clearly indicate in the CV or cover letter any knowledge of Quality Assurance protocols and accreditation processes for forensic labs.

Candidates must also have a record of excellence in teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical enquiry, curriculum development, and teaching innovation. Dalhousie University: Limited Term Instructor

The Department of Chemistry at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 3-Year Limited Term Instructor, 100% FTE.

Appointment term: Begins on or before August 15, 2016 - July 31, 2019

Duties: The responsibilities of this position are the preparation and delivery of first-year chemistry classes, primarily lectures, but also some laboratory duties. In addition, the position may occasionally be assigned tasks in other courses.

This position reports to the Chair of the Chemistry Department.

The position requires a minimum of PhD degree in Chemistry and laboratory and lecture teaching experience at the university level. The DFA Collective Agreement, 2015-18, defines total compensation for the position, including salary and benefits.

McMaster University: 1-year teaching contract position

The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology in the Faculty of Science at McMaster University invites applications for a one-year contractually limited appointment at the Assistant Professor level, to commence on or before September 1, 2016. Trent University: 9-month full-time, limited-term appointment biochemistry and organic chemistry
