Memorial University: Per-Course Appointment (general biochemistry / metabolism)

The Department of Biochemistry invites applications from individuals interested in teaching 50% of
the following undergraduate course in the Winter 2020 semester. Subject to budgetary restrictions and
sufficient enrolments, appointments will be made on a course by course basis and will not entail any obligation to conduct research or to perform any administrative service for Memorial University. Appointments will be made in accordance with the provisions in the MUN-LUMUN Collective Agreement. Course design and evaluation methods for all courses will be in accordance with Biochemistry department regulations and the Memorial University Calendar.

Course Title: BIOC 3206 – Metabolism /PHAR 3111 – General Biochemistry – 50% of the course.
Course Schedule: Slot 3 (10:00 – 10:50 am Monday.Wednesday.Friday)
Campus Location: St. John’s

Course Description: Biochemistry 3206 – Metabolism, examines the catabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and amino acids. Other topics will be: mitochondria, chloroplasts and ATP synthesis; biosynthesis of carbohydrates and lipids; metabolic specialization of differentiated cells and tissues; and, integration of metabolism. Qualifications: A demonstrated knowledge of intermediary metabolism with a Graduate degree in
Biochemistry or a closely related field is required. Teaching experience at the undergraduate Biochemistry level and experience teaching this subject matter are assets.
