Kyle Duncan hired by Vancouver Island University

Kyle Duncan has been appointed as a new faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Vancouver Island University. Kyle completed a PhD in environmental analytical chemistry at the University of Victoria based in the Applied Environmental Research labs at Vancouver Island University supervised by Dr. Chis Gill, Dr. Erik Krogh, and Dr. Tom Fyles. He then spent four and a half years as a postdoctoral fellow and senior researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden working in biological mass spectrometry under the supervision of Dr. Ingela Lanekoff. Kyle’s research interests continue to revolve around bioanalytical mass spectrometry, including both targeted and untargeted strategies for probing the metabolome and lipidome of biological organisms. More specifically, he designs, constructs, and applies novel instrumentation to spatially map small molecules in tissue, and elucidate the role of small molecule metabolites and lipids in health and disease.
