Saint Mary's University: Eight month contractually limited term appointment teaching organic chemistry and biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Mary's University invites applications for an eight month contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2021. The successful candidate will possess an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and have a record of research contribution. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate classroom and laboratory instruction. The successful candidate is anticipated to instruct in a combination of the following lectures and/or laboratories: Organic chemistry (labs) and Biochemistry (lecture and labs), and any other lectures/labs that may fit the successful candidates’ expertise and Department needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play an active role in the administrative life of the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science, and the University in general.

The position is anticipated to be primarily focussed on in-person delivery but may evolve due to constraints related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Chemistry offers a nationally-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree program in Chemistry (Major and Honours). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research and graduate students are enrolled in the in Applied Science Program at both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.
